"in school" or
"at school"?
Both have different meanings.
I am in high school. -
You are a student and study in high school.
I am at the high school. -
Just a place where you are regardless if you are a student of that high school or not.A: Do you go to work?
B: No, I don't. I am
in high school.
(You are a student.)
A: Can you come this afternoon?
B: Alright. Where shall we meet?
A: Let's meet
at our high school.
Examples -
in:
I have to study a lot in my high school.
We didn't get much homework in our high school.
My teachers were very nice in high school.
My favorite teacher in junior high school was Miss Apple.
Examples -
at:
I forgot my books at school.
We have a fountain at school.
I met my friends at school.
Note:
"in/at" rules applies to hospital, too.
He is in hospital. (He is sick and is a patient.)
She's works as a nurse in a hospital. (occupation, job)
Bill is visiting his cousin at Far Eastern Hospital. (He's a visitor.)
There is a taxi stand at the hospital.
